netGameRadio 2008 Wrap-Up
Heals, 5-Jan-09 »
Just over 20 people tuned in for our first official broadcast in January 2008 and since those humble days no less than a quarter of a million people have visited us here at netGameRadio over the course of our first year! What’s more, we can’t wait for all those people and more, to join us for an even bigger year in 2009!
A few notable events for us in 2008 were our 2142 & BF2 Masters tournaments, the nGR Invitational, e-Games & of course the Call of Duty Launch in Melbourne!
Mention has to go to all the netGameRadio staff who’ve poured their blood sweat and tears into the station over the year and of course the man who started it all, the father of netGameRadio, Russell ‘RDNx’ Norman. Not only has Russell’s generous heart helped make the Battlefield 2 & 2142 communities in Australia two of the richest and most exciting gaming communities to be part of in recent history, but his dedication to eSports and entertainment for gamers in general has been nothing short of extraordinary.
In 2008 we witnessed RDNx reach a bar never before achieved by an Australian eSports commentator with his incredible milestone of over 300 shoutcasts in a calendar year! The word ‘insane’ comes to mind when I read that, but this achievement would not have been achievable without the support of the other heavy hitters here at netGameRadio.

VyperAus has been here from the start and can now boast an incredible year with over 170 casts under his belt in 2008, standing alongside Vyper is the one and only Johnny Sisko achieving over 150 casts. ShanLamar, the ‘spiritual mascot’ of netGameRadio staff and fans alike popped his 100th cast cherry this year and a special mention goes to Dr`Steve the Frenzal Rhomb obsessed boy-wonder achieving his half century in 2008!
The guys above may have their names on the plaque but without the rest of the 30+ dedicated team of co-casters and staff here at netGameRadio, both past and present, none of these achievements would have been possible. You know who you are!
Finally, to all our listeners at netGameRadio, we would like to thank you for your loyalty, support and feedback with everything we’ve done this year. We understand it’s all but impossible to cater for everyone’s tastes and expectations, though we’d like everyone to know that we try our hardest to make what we do beneficial to everyone in the Australian gaming scene! We have a number of brand new shows and content planned for this year so with open arms we invite YOU our treasured listeners to be part of a better netGameRadio experience in 2009!
