The following was published at ozfortress, written by Bowt and nsk and is in no way associated with netGameRadio. Though we did find it funny as hell, you might too!

"Maps

It seems the admins have listened to the community’s feedback regarding the map list – cp_dustbowl has been replaced with cp_fastlane, which is definitely a good change. While cp_fastlane isn’t that popular, it’s at least reasonably balanced now and should definitely make for more interesting games than two teams spamming each other on dustbowl stage 3.

It should be noted that the new version of fastlane that was in the scout update is not actually the same cp_prolane version made by the euros but it does at least share some of the changes. The resupply cabinets at spawn are further back and the corridor above cp5 has been changed. What it’s missing from the euro version are (I think) the medkit changes/removals throughout the map and the tunnel thingy under the building near cp2/cp4.

Seeds

Something also has to be said about the seedings, which saw impact get what is now a very inaccurate and very unlucky 8th seed – meaning they will most likely have to face encore in round 2. This could mean an early departure from the single elimination competition for a team that has the potential to place 3rd if the competition was double elimination.

Predictions

Note: our predictions for this wildcard round will actually read more like “team overviews and general comments” than actual match specific predictions, since both of us are somewhat clueless when it comes to discussing the relative strengths and weaknesses of the various div2 teams (we haven’t even heard of them before, lol).

As the competition progresses, we will both be able to go into much more detail about each team’s particular strengths and weaknesses (more serious predictions!).

nLa vs a-cubed

nesk: The nLa roster features some pretty intimating names, such as the “Death Penguin”, and “gordon freeman”, while a-cubed’s roster seems to be mostly players from clan -A- plus moz from beastin and beastrn from iH. The pressure is definitely on a-cubed here to avoid a potentially embarrassing loss to the team with probably the highest number of collective infractions on the forums and lowest average age.

From what I’m told, beastrn can also be expected to provide a wide range of excuses in the event of a loss, ranging from “too tired” to “bad team mates”. Sources: warsow.net.au forums, various post-game comments, numerous character references.

a-cubed 5 : 1 nLa

Bowt: I get about 5 pm's a day from a-cubed members for my config (go figure). Last time YSW played nLa on badlands they ran a heavy/sniper instead of two scouts... enough said. Vamp is a nasty sniper but if they run him as it on granary they will be sure to get stomped. A-cubed have players with experience in quality teams and more clue on how to play.

a-cubed 5 : 0 nLa

Players to watch: moz (during the game), aps (self-proclaimed better-than-fluid demoman), beastrn (after the game).

Retro vs tsw.blu

nesk:I’ve played against tsw.blu a few times (as in, one map every 6 months) and while they haven’t really been particularly impressive, one of their soldiers is “top 4 ultiduo” – I understand that this is one of the primary skill benchmarks in NZ so retro had better watch out for "gregwong".

Retro, on the other hand, seem to be fairly new with mostly players that I’ve never played against – although they do have Rake from N!SF who I seem to remember being pretty good at demoman. Regardless, I’d still have to go with tsw.blu on this one simply because they have a top 4 ultiduo soldier – I don’t really see what retro can do against that.

tsw.blu 5 : 4 Retro

Bowt: You can count on trogdor trying to slut some ysw players due to “inactive players” or some terrible excuse when everyone in community knows they are just trying to powerhouse through the wild card section. But they might just use the proper tsw.blu line up to prove what they got (thanks lottic). I’ve seen Retro scrimming quite a bit recently and because of this I expect them to come out on top.

Retro 5 : 3 tsw.blu

Players to watch: Rake, gregwong (top4 ultiduo)

Moxie vs ETP

nesk: I think moxie is a fairly new clan which might explain why I haven’t heard of them – although, like the other ~25 teams in div2 that I haven’t heard of, it might not. ETP used to actually be ok (for an NZ team, of course) but I’m pretty sure the new ETP only play inside NZ now, which unfortunately means they will probably suck (this is usually the case). They should still have the experience/skills to beat a new team that doesn’t have much competition experience though.

ETP 5 : 4 moxie

Bowt: Hopefully neither team wins.

Moxie 5 : 3 ETP

Players to watch: wouldn’t have a clue.

zX vs bun

nesk: I assume bun will try to get this game played on their WA server – judging by the comments in their previous match threads, this seems to be a fairly common tactic of theirs. If zX are foolish enough to fall for that one then I can’t really see them winning. Even if they don’t, I (with my very limited knowledge of the div2 clan scene) would expect bun to win fairly easily.

Bun 5 : 2 zX

Bowt: Expect to hear a very biased shoutcast.

ENCORE nsk: i think your comments are bit lacking
ENCORE nsk: for etp/moxie
ENCORE nsk: and zx/bun
ENCORE nsk: got any players to watch for zx/bun?
Bowt: bun: that scout who aimbots
Bowt: umm
Bowt: whats his nick
Bowt: dont know
ENCORE nsk: is it p0rks?
Bowt: yep
Bowt: ok put that in

Bun 5 : 1 zX

Players to watch: p0rks"
