sgtsmithy, 5-Aug-10 » This is back! Bigger and better.
Thermaltake and Tt eSPORTS, in conjunction with Anyware Computer Accessories and your very own netGameRadio have re-announced their epic Counter Strike: Source competition that has now been split up into two different leagues - Pro and Amateur.
Each league has it's own rules and terms, here is the basic information;
Pro:
- Must be/have been competing in an invite standard competition ie; MSi Cup, CGm/i, GGm/i/p etc
- Must pay a $150 entry fee
Amateur:
- No previous ladder experience required
- No entry fee's
- Located only at City Hunter Net Café in NSW.
- Cannot be participating in the pro league
Whether you come to the event to test your skills, or you just want to come to watch the pro's play, netGameRadio will be there providing LIVE coverage at the event and also some live DJ'd music to get you in the fragging mood.
The pro league qualifiers are run every second Saturday for seven weeks starting on the 4th of September at City Hunter (the second being QLD, 3rd being SA etc), with the finals being completed after this.
Teams are welcome to attend and compete in as many qualifiers as they want, remembering that both 1st and 2nd place get given $1000 from Thermaltake towards their flights to the grand final in Sydney.
Remember, if you place 1st or 2nd in a qualifier and are therefore entitles to the grand final, you are not elegible to play in any more qualifiers.
The dates and locations are as follows;
· Sept 4th – SYD/ACT - City Hunter Net Café in NSW
· Sept 18th – QLD/NT - Held in QLD
· Oct 2nd – SA/WA - Held in SA
· Oct 16th – VIC/TAS - Held in VIC
FINALS – OCT 30th - City Hunter Net Café in NSW
If the money and cast's are not good enough for you, netGameRadio and Thermaltake will have some free gear to give away and netGameRadio's own Smithy and Triumph will be flying around the country up to shoutcast the qualifiers and finals!
Some quick facts about the LAN:
- $14,500 Total Prize Pool
- Finals located at City Hunter Internet Café - 374 Sussex St, Sydney, NSW.
- Shoutcasted live by netGameRadio
- Free goodies from netGameRadio and Thermaltake
- Competition is 5 versus 5, Seek and Eliminate (Search and Destroy) style.
- Pro league generates a massive $5,000 for 1st place, $2,000 for 2nd and $1,000 for 3rd!
- Qualifier rounds and finals matches will be made into trailers and frag video's for all to see!
The events head organiser Johnathon Tiong had this to say about the ruleset " We've tried to aim for the perfect balance of hard, fast-paced action and strategic, combat. By having 9 round halves with the first to 10 wins, matches are quick, but still long enough for turn-arounds and major upsets. The starting funds give enough money to the teams to fully load themselves out for action, with just the right amount of risk if they happen to step wrong with their strategy. All of this is designed to make matches quick, exciting, and fun to watch AND play for everyone involved in the league."
