sgtsmithy, 31-Mar-10 » Stick figures are well known for being the subject of violent flash games, beating the crap out of each other comes as naturally to a stick figure as drawing their next breath. Sift Heads World takes this stereotype above and beyond the call of duty. Think Tarentino meets flash games, Sift Heads feels like it was inspired by Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction.

You're given the choice of three different characters to play each with their own pros and cons. Kiro, an ex-yakuza is the toughest of the three but does the least damage and requires headshots to put down enemies in any timely fashion. Vinnie, vigilante turned bounty hunter is the polar opposite of Kiro with the least health but does the most damage. The third character Shorty falls in as a middle ground and seems to be the most popular among users for one simple fact: she's a girl.

No, it's not wrong that you're being turned on by a stick figure. Please continue.

The level of depth and complexity of Sift Heads far surpasses your average flash game. The game itself plays like a cross between a point and click adventure game and an arcade shooter. You navigate the world with the mouse, find points of interest and items you need to collect but when confronted by enemies hit spacebar to go into first person and take them out.

As with most complicated games there are RPG elements to Sift Heads. You earn cash for completing main and side missions which you can then spend on acquiring new weapons or outfits. The guns handle differently and you're put in a variety of situations where different weapons are more effective. Heavy hitters like the shotgun make mincemeat out of enemies but it fires slow, so you may not be able to kill multiple opponents before they start shooting back.

The music is snappy and the graphics are slick for a flash game. While the cut scenes are arty and well directed the dialogue could use some work. There are parts that'll make the grammar police start writing tickets and leave fast paced FPS'ers go looking for a beer. Gameplay wise Sift Heads keeps trying to switch things up so you won't get bored, it'll occasionally work quick time events into the cut scenes. Like all point and click adventure games however where to go next can be more than a little vague at times. Check your objectives for clues about what to do next and if you're really stuck there's always a walkthrough.

Currently Sift Heads World has the first out of twelve acts released by Pyrozen productions and they're aiming to improve with every release. Due out in April act 2 features twenty more missions, customisable weapons, and will unlock another travel destination. To save profiles between acts you'll need to register an account when you start a new game.
