SGL Wrap Up
VyperAus, 16-Dec-08 » The Sydney Gamers League LAN for December kicked off bright and early last Sunday morning, with more than 200 gamers rocking up to Macquarie University in Ryde, at 9am in the morning with everything they would need to sustain a hard day’s work of Gaming and socialising.

Keen to investigate the SGL, netGameRadio dispatched a crew of 3 intrepid adventurers who were going to go and check out the goings on at the SGL December LAN. Headed by RDNx, with support from VyperAus, and the paparazzi skills of JinXxX. The team rocked up to Macquarie University’s Atrium and walked into a massive setup, with PC’s and Monitors as far as the eye could see. Not to be left out there were a series of consoles set up down one side of the room as well.

Once everybody was setup, and were plugged into the network, it was down to some gaming and also entering into one of the numerous tournaments that were being held throughout the day. With tournaments being held for DOTA, Red Alert 3, COD 4, Unreal Tournament 3 and numerous others, proving to be the most popular. The console gamers weren’t left out either with a highly competitive Halo 3 tournament run as well. The winners of these tournaments received some very nice prizes from Logitech, EA Games, and Atari

Atari were also on hand with a demonstration of their new action RPG called ‘Rise of the Argonauts’. This game which is being released in the next week, across all platforms, has the action of a Diablo, but more RPG style interaction with the other characters and storyline. Numerous gamers came over and were trying it out, with quite a few impressed by the action in the game.

Chatting with several Gamers, revealed that quite a few of the gamers now know each other due to first of chatting on various online applications and then finally meeting up at the SGL events, of which, they just keeping coming back, and it’s easy to understand why.
The organisers for SGL have done their homework, making sure everything is up and running and also that everyone is having fun, which is the main aim of the LAN. So a big hats off to the organisers, because this was well organised and ran smoothly, letting the gamers enjoy themselves in the company of other gamers.
