netGameRadio was invited to attend the Alienware COD 5: World At War Launch Party on Saturday the 8th of November. In conjunction with Team Exile5, whom Alienware are a sponsor, the nGR entourage assembled and began its venture in to covering online events. Swinburne University, Hawthorn, was to be the place for this epic adventure!

RDNx, VyperAus and I were the official netGameRadio media covering the event for the station, arriving at around 3.15PM. Having entered early, the Alienware staff, including the lads from Team Exile5, were all busy setting up the special mezzanine area in which lay 100 immaculate Alienware PCs and 100 XBOX360 consoles.

The scene was filled with the latest PC technology, all with COD 5: World At War installed and raring to go.

Whilst the staff were running a little behind, they did a phenomenal job to open the doors to over 300 gamers a little past 4.45PM, at which time a flood of eager beaver gamers rushed to claim a PC or an XBOX360.

Razer Gaming had a fully manned booth ready with an assortment of their latest gear on show. Alienware and Microsoft each had separate sections for attendees to play Guitar Hero. Playing COD5: World at War was hard work, and swapping guns for a guitar to play Guitar Hero was a enjoyable break.

Only minutes after opening, all of the gaming machines were occupied, and the party really started. Andy Wells was busy collecting all the latest media for his BigPond GameArena Weekly Update, as was Michael Woods from the MX Newspaper getting everyone's opinion of the party, and COD5 itself.

Alienware had their sponsored gaming brand, Team Exile5, helping out and they did a fantastic job of both ensuring the event was being run smoothly, as well as ensuring that COD5 got a good play testing. The team organiser for the day, Fries, was our patron saint, ensuring that we were well looked after, had plenty of refreshments as well as helping us with whatever he could.

During the event there were a few minor issues with the event power supply; but it was quickly identified that the DJ kept tripping the circuit breakers and once moved no more power issues were reported.

Aron Jackson, the Alienware Sales and Marketing Manager responsible for organising the event, was nicknamed by us, 'The Flash'. He was everywhere and anywhere ensuring a smooth running launch party doing an excellent job of dealing with issues as they popped up as quickly as possible and was on hand to give us an exclusive interview during our live show.

Throughout the night, the Alienware army promotional girls were keeping everyone's libido pumping, with many gamers unable to hold back their temptations and salivating over the poor ladies outfits! Still, they did a good job, and were even dancing along with the audience in the DJ dance area.

Our live broadcast went fantastic. We had the opportunity to interview many different attendees and media representatives, and we look forward to enhancing this ability in our next live event!

Our resident graphics guru, Bench, was on call to snap some fantastic moments throughout the night, of which we will shortly bring up a gallery of scenes from the event.

Thank you to all the people who came up and introduced themselves! It was fantastic to put a face to an online alias! Meeting many different gamers from Team Exile5, AFO, Team Renegade, 45th Tigers, Death Comes Suddenly and loads more!

A huge special thanks to Aron from Alienware for inviting us, as well as Fries and Team Exile5 for their hospitality! The late night drinks were appreciated! It was a fantastic time, and we look forward to broadcasting from our next live event, E-Games, this weekend!
