NetGameMedia Pty Ltd. today announced the upcoming launch of Australia’s newest competitive online gaming tournament portal, ClanSport. The focus of the brand will be to accelerate the expansion of competitive online gaming competition in Australia and will attempt to confirm it as a truly viable spectator sport. The ClanSport hopes to achieve this by creating a platform that specifically revolves around pinnacle gaming events coupled with significant interaction between gamers, grass-roots media organisations & corporate sponsorship.

This unique concept will attempt to fill the void and establish a useful model of sustainable online competition. Balance will be a key component in all future ClanSport endeavours. The first of such endeavours will include a pinnacle tournament ‘series’ for Team Fortress® 2, something never before seen by that portion of the Australian gaming community. Together with grass-roots media organisations like netGameRadio & Auscast, gamers will have a chance to step back from the keyboard and entrench themselves as spectators and supporters of some of Australia’s best up-and-coming professional online gaming teams like Team Exile5. ClanSport tournaments and series will be fully covered or ‘shoutcasted’ and will include a multitude of tandem competitions such as Tipping & Video making competitions. You no longer have to be a hardcore gamer to be part of the fun!

Julian Healey, spokesperson for ClanSport has stated that he is extremely excited to announce this latest exciting chapter in Australian eSports.

“It’s a going to be a great opportunity for gamers, though when labelling the ClanSport as a brand, we really don’t want to propagate the notion of trying to become ‘just another online gaming portal’, quite the opposite. After being involved at netGameRadio for so long, we’ve learnt that the real progression of eSports lies in the positive interaction between gamers, sponsors and media, a trifecta that in-turn generates spectator interest. It is this interest that we hope will inspire other online Australian eSports organisations like CyberGamer and GotGames to create sponsored series of their own. We’re here to accelerate the progression of eSports, not dominate it!

Currently, there is no one organisation or tournament big enough to sustain gaming professionals in Australia and we would like nothing more than to see the creation of an Australian professional online gaming ‘circuit’. We firmly believe ClanSport is the first crucial step toward that goal.”

netGameRadio, Auscast & iPGN are all confirmed partners for the first ClanSport tournament series. Bench Studios will also be assisting with ClanSport website development and graphic design over the course of the next 9 months.

The ClanSport website will launch in the coming weeks, the first tournament series is set to begin early August. For more information visit http://www.clansport.com
